Daewoo motors came to india in 1994 with a true blue mid sized sedan Cielo which was much ahead of its time.
Four years later they rolled their small car Matiz, the car loved by most but died unnatural death as the parent company back in South Korea went bankrupt. Both the cars still owned and loved by many who are unable to find its true replacement,

The Daewoo Motors Came to India in 1994. Daewoo started producing a true blue sedan Cielo. Daewoo cars at that point were technical marvels with MPFI and many features like power windows, power steering and many more. Daewoo cars were Euro I compliant in 1994, the standards which were made mandatory only in 1998 in India. Daewoo introduced small car Matiz in 1998. Daewoo Matiz had a huge cute quotient. Daewoo cars had a strong build to last years. Daewoo continued producing these dream cars till the time its parent company started having financial problems in South Korea.This had a trickle down effect on indian subsidiary which shut shop in 2005 officially.
